The Junior Accounts Receivables Associate performs various aspects of day-to-day account receivable and account payable functions for our residents in Chicago on a timely and accurate basis. The role includes collecting past‑due payments, handling eviction-related collections, and providing an exceptional customer service experience. This is a full‑time position with benefits. Pay is $18 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate resident financial account records, applying all rent payments and application fees in the accounting software system daily.
Generate and distribute resident communications and notices, such as payments, balances, account reconciliations, late payment notices, small balance letters, eviction notices, and returned check memos.
Respond to client and leasing agent inquiries (written and verbal) regarding resident and prospective resident accounts.
Process resident and prospective resident refunds, such as administration fees for declined residents and double payments.
Complete write‑offs after 60 days on uncollectible balances from former residents and send to outside collections agency.
Make regularly scheduled collection requests to residents (by telephone, email, text, etc.) when accounts become delinquent.
Deliver 5‑day notices for non‑payment of rent and appear in court for eviction cases if needed.
Organize and file all applicable reports, leases, and paperwork. Enter all activity into Salesforce.
Understand, apply, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local laws.
Qualifications
2+ years of related accounting experience required; experience in multi‑family property management preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business or equivalent work experience preferred.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). Experience in Salesforce preferred.
Excellent communicator with professional and legible written communication skills.
