Position Summary The Department of Surgery is seeking a full‑time surgical oncologist to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. The Division includes 15 faculty members and 9 advanced practice providers and offers multidisciplinary care in partnership with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The appointment may be fixed term, tenure/tenure‑track or variable up to 1.0 FTE, with rank determined by credentials and scholarly achievements.
Responsibilities
Participate in multidisciplinary care, tumor boards and surgical support of oncology programs.
Deliver high‑quality clinical care valued by the UNC Healthcare system.
Engage in clinical trials and pursue scholarly interests across multiple cancer types.
Regularly participate in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Potentially assume a leadership position within the Department of Surgery depending on current needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery and fellowship trained in surgical oncology.
Current North Carolina Medical License or eligibility for one.
Professional, team‑oriented demeanor with strong interpersonal skills within and beyond the Division.
Commitment to all three missions of the Department and School of Medicine: clinical care, education and research.
Dedication to delivering high quality clinical care that serves the UNC Healthcare system.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
General surgical oncology expertise.
Experience teaching or mentoring medical students and residents.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. The holder is required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual reporting training.
