Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is seeking a full‑time BE/BC experienced Pediatric Physiatrist to join our UF Health Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice. The practice provides comprehensive outpatient care to more than 1,000 children and consultative inpatient services in Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. This position reports to the Chief of the Division of Community and Societal Pediatrics and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.
Staff Includes 2 Triple‑Boarded Physicians, 4 APPs, a Nurse Care Coordinator, a Social Worker, a Physical Therapist, and triage, referral, and clinical support staff as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Full‑time Pediatric Physiatrist will be responsible for:
Providing consultative inpatient services at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital (0.50 FTE M‑F)
Providing outpatient care to new and established patients as part of the care team (0.50 FTE M‑F)
Shared after‑hours and weekend call coverage for both outpatient clinic and Wolfson Children’s Hospital (1 of 6 rotating providers)
Clinical supervision and education of fellows, residents, medical students, and Advanced Practice Providers
General Duties and Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care and rehabilitation services to children with complex medical and therapy needs, including severe disabilities such as cerebral palsy, brain and spinal cord injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders. Work within a comprehensive rehabilitation team in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including a Spasticity Management and Rehabilitation Team (SMART). May provide treatment services such as Botox and phenol injections for spasticity and Baclofen pump management; physical, occupational, and speech therapy referrals; orthotics and serial casting referrals; and coordination with pediatric neurosurgery for selective dorsal rhizotomy evaluation.
Participation in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions, and institutional committees as requested. Clinical supervision and education of fellows, residents, medical students, and Advanced Practice Providers. Our team is actively engaged in clinical and health‑systems research, providing opportunities for advancing academic pursuits.
The practice is part of the Bower Lyman Center for Medically Complex Children, caring for over 2,000 children and young adults with complex medical problems from birth to age 23 years, including inpatient palliative care services.
Expected Salary
Negotiable based on experience and academic appointment.
Minimum Requirements
MD/DO degree and eligibility for a Florida Medical License
Preferred Qualifications
Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine
