Job Summary
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of
Psychologist 3
at the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) in Monroe, just northeast of the Seattle‑metro area in Washington. This is a day shift position that will require work to be completed onsite at the facility.
Responsibilities
Provide mental health counseling services to mentally ill, behaviorally troubled, and developmentally impaired patients through individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, mental health unit rounds, clinical case management, and mental health assessment. Serve as the primary therapist for an assigned caseload with timely documentation.
Intervene during crises, triage and respond to patients’ requests, observe, interview, collect data, evaluate, and direct treatment of patients on the assigned caseload.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting and documentation of services rendered, including OMNI data, typed reports, and/or legible hand‑written reports filed in the patients’ medical charts.
Complete MHAs, MHUs, Suicide Risk Assessments (SRAs), Suicide Risk Detectives (SRDs), Safety Plans, and other crisis documentation as required by policy.
Facilitate and monitor development and implementation of individualized Mental Health Treatment Plans in accordance with the WA DOC Health Plan and the “golden thread.”
Track and record when patients on the caseload have upcoming treatment plan due dates; complete IBMPs as needed.
Complete Behavioral Health Discharge Summaries and Involuntary Antipsychotic Reports as required.
Conduct diagnostic assessment and clarification for Residential Treatment Units (RTUs) at SOU/MCC, including instrument‑based evaluations and generation of Psychological Assessment Reports that aid in developing MHAs/MHUs, MHTPs, and MHERs incorporating the “golden thread.”
Provide administrative supervision to assigned staff, document issues, distribute Position Descriptions, resolve concerns and performance problems, provide constructive feedback, and deliver annual or required position evaluations and expectations.
Other duties as assigned such as facility support, Psych 4 backup coverage, participation in in‑service training, teaching Suicide Prevention, acting as a Mental Health Duty Officer, attending administrative and clinical care team meetings, and providing crisis COA coverage.
Qualifications
PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology.
Licensure: Washington State Mental Health Counselor License, Washington State Psychologist License, or Agency Affiliated Registration (LAAC) within 60 days of appointment; OR independent license as a Psychologist in Washington.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with psychological testing.
Experience working in a residential living unit.
Experience working in a correctional environment.

Respirator medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use required per WA Industrial Safety Act.
Salary based on experience; range includes Steps A‑M.
Foreign equivalent degrees must have credential evaluation report attached to application.
Position may fill multiple permanent or non‑permanent roles.
Employment eligibility verified on first day per I‑9 requirements.
