UNC Family Medicine at Pikeville, part of the UNC Health Wayne system, is seeking a dedicated and skilled

Family Medicine or Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

to join our growing team. Pikeville, NC, located just north of Goldsboro and one hour east of Raleigh, offers a welcoming community, affordable living, and easy access to both the coast and the Triangle.

Position Highlights

Provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages in a family medicine setting

Conduct routine health maintenance visits, physical exams, and preventive screenings

Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and heart disease

Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses within the scope of primary care

Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to deliver team‑based, patient‑centered care

Participate in quality improvement, care coordination, and population health initiatives

Monday‑Friday schedule, no nights or weekends required

Qualifications

Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina (or eligible)

Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program

Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, or primary care preferred; new graduates with strong primary care clinical rotations are encouraged to apply

BLS certification required (ACLS optional)

Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department; DEA

Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills; effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting; documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing
