We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged MRF Supervisor to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 651 Charles Street and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary The MRF supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the daily flow of the MRF. This will include monitoring the site to ensure safe conditions exist, managing stockpiles for inbound and outbound shipments, handling employee and customer concerns, operating equipment as necessary, controlling MRF parts and equipment inventories, keeping the scale and traffic flowing smoothly and reporting concerns or issues to the MRF management team. Creating and advising on reports and data sets of daily, weekly, and monthly volumes and other targets as required.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Must have a solid understanding of all aspects of the MRF and its operation
Follow Company and Cal-OSHA safety procedures to ensure safe working habits and awareness
Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers and conduct safety trainings for employees as required
Manage the MRF inventory to ensure essential parts and equipment are always available
Team with the MRF Mechanic Manager to facilitate ongoing projects and fill parts and equipment needs to eliminate work backups or downtime
Communicate with vendors and suppliers to maintain a current stock of inventory and knowledge of shipping dates and stock replenishment
Maintain stockpiles of yard waste, compost, trash, trash transfer and metal at a controlled level
Tour the MRF and ensure employees are working safely and with proper PPE
Walking the site looking for issues such as spills, employee safety concerns
Watch haulers onsite and ensure they follow company guidelines and safety protocols
Monitor traffic flow, scale backups, ensure load checking is done safely and accurately
Provide daily reports, spreadsheets, SharePoint and other data to the MRF management team
Perform other duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety
Can work at any operations position in either MRF as needed
Must know all the PPE and safety measures required
Understand the scale system and be able to cover scale employees as needed
Proficient in operating all rolling stock and equipment onsite
Ability to manage employees and customer issues or concerns
Strong computer knowledge with an emphasis on all aspects of the Microsoft suite
Solid understanding of the parts and equipment that keep the MRF operational
Good time management, organizational skills and thoroughness
Qualifications
Strong communication and time management skills
Ability to receive and understand directions verbally and written
Good understanding of all aspects of the MRF operations
Language Skill
Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Physical Demands
Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs and in and out of equipment
Shifts can be very long workdays in outdoor elements
Work Environment The typical work week is Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work. The employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions including sun exposure and rain. Conditions inside the MRF are loud, dusty, and odors are strong. Must have the ability to work in settings with frequent changes in environment, start/end time, and working conditions based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
