Radiation Therapy Tech - Radiation Oncology - FT Days

Position Summary
Incumbent is responsible for daily patient treatments & procedures in the linear accelerator, NOMOS, and simulator rooms of Radiation Oncology. Responsible for the daily scheduling of patients to ensure an efficient use of the available time slots. Schedules and takes port films on all patients, reviews results with physicians, documents findings, and makes necessary corrections.
Responsibilities
Review treatment plan, dosimetry and treatment chart before initial patient treatment.
Ensure correct operation of radiation therapy equipment, automatic film processors and quality control equipment.
Daily documentation of patient treatment.
Accurate billing of patient.
Notify physician of any concerns regarding patient condition during treatment course.
Notify physicist of any equipment problems in a timely manner.
Maintain films and medical records, including purging of files.
Carry out and record orders as required by physician prescriptions.
Required Qualifications
Proven ability to safely and accurately operate radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators and computers.
Must possess ARRT/CRT in Radiation Therapy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Demonstrated knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning.
BLS certification.
Ability to work “on-call” rotation and variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
Experience in computer informatics/networking associated with radiation oncology practices.
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
