The Arc of New Mexico has supported people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1955. Its mission is to promote and protect their rights and ensure full inclusion in the community. Serving over 1,000 individuals annually with a $2.2M budget and 22 staff, The Arc provides guardianship, financial management, special needs trusts, and advocacy to uphold and advance these essential rights.
Additional Areas of Responsibility The Executive Director leads The Arc of New Mexico, overseeing administration, programs, public policy, advocacy, and strategic vision. This role ensures the organization’s relevance, provides mission-driven leadership, strengthens finances, supports the board, and enhances operations including HR, infrastructure, program effectiveness, and communications. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
Other Information/Requirements A bachelor’s degree in a human services or organizational management field (or equivalent experience) is required. The ideal candidate brings fundraising success, knowledge of disability communities and New Mexico systems, and a collaborative, future-focused leadership style. This role is based in Albuquerque with up to 25% in-state travel. Salary is expected around $150,000, with health, disability, life insurance, IRA contributions, and optional vision/dental.
