Summary The Ash Group is hiring a

Database Architect

for our client (a major electricity and natural gas utility provider) based in a hybrid model in Denver, CO. This strategic role requires 8-10 years of experience in data architecture to support the critical CIS Modernization/Transformation effort within the Customer Portfolio. You will focus on solution architecture, data modeling, data governance, and data integration patterns across a modern hybrid environment, heavily utilizing AWS native services and Databricks (Datalakehouse architecture).

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation : Competitive pay rate of $107 per hour.

Benefits : Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months of employment, enjoy a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.

Duration : 6-month contract with a high likelihood of extension.

Location : Hybrid in Denver, CO.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide architecture oversight and guidance for the CIS Modernization effort, specifically addressing data migration, data quality, and data access integration patterns.

Assess and implement data modeling standards (e.g., Customer 360 view) for core operational databases, ensuring optimal design for storage and quick, real-time access (e.g., AWS Aurora/Relational database).

Develop and set standards for data governance and management, defining system of record and system of truth to minimize data replication.

Design solutions focused on data access, movement, visualization, and integrations across hybrid cloud/on-prem solutions, including SaaS platforms like Salesforce and the Xcel Energy Data Fabric (Databricks).

Deliver architecture artifacts and diagrams using appropriate tooling, collaborating closely with database engineers and internal/third-party vendors.

What We’re Looking For

8–10 years of experience in data architecture or a related technical field.

Required experience with AWS native services and modern technology stacks (e.g., Databricks, Datalakehouse architectures).

Strong experience/knowledge in data modeling skills (conceptual, logical, and physical modeling) is mandatory.

Knowledge of SAP and/or Salesforce data models and architecture is preferred.Experience delivering architectural artifacts and diagramming with formal Architecture tooling.

Experience in the Utility, Energy/Gas, or Communications sector is beneficial.
