Location & Travel Location: Beavercreek, OH or Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), OH. This role is “On‑Site”. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Role Overview Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems (NGDS) sector is looking for a Mgr. Software Engineering 1 to lead a team of talented software engineers and ensure quality engineering support to programs, IRADs and new business pursuits in the Weapons Integration & Mission Solutions (WIMS) Business Unit. The selected candidate will provide functional leadership to the team in a strong engineering organization, collaborating with peers across multiple organizations. The candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, problem solving, and the ability to build diverse and inclusive teams, including mentoring and coaching. In addition, the candidate will actively participate in engineering activities related to our Intelligence, Systems, Infrastructure, Tools & Enhancements (InSITE) Program as well as other relevant Northrop Grumman Defense Systems programs.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high‑performing software engineering team.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple organizations.

Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Build, mentor, and coach diverse and inclusive teams.

Actively participate in InSITE and other Defense Systems engineering programs.

Authorized for approximately 15% indirect charging to perform duties associated with this position.

Qualifications Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree (Bachelors). Preferred: Master’s degree.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or other STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant engineering development experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Experience managing implementation and delivery of sophisticated engineering solutions for Government customers.

Previous experience in people and/or technical leadership roles.

Must have 85% coverage on an existing direct program or qualify for an open Northrop Grumman requisition at Beavercreek or WPAFB for a technical engineering role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Experience leading a team in a matrix‑like organization.

Experience leading engineering teams using Agile processes and CI/CD tools.

Knowledge of AFRL/RI contracting process and procedures.

Experience working with NASIC, NSIC, AFRL, ACC or DIA.

Experience working with multiple subcontractors concurrently.

Business development and/or proposal experience.

Salary Range Primary Level Salary Range: $118,100.00 – $177,100.00.
