Job Summary The Portfolio Banker works closely with Relationship Managers and Regional Relationship Managers to evaluate the financial information and needs of prospective and existing borrowers. The role involves gathering and analyzing commercial real‑estate financials, credit information, performing in‑depth company and industry analysis, and conducting due diligence to evaluate risk/return parameters of financing transactions. This position requires direct experience in investor real‑estate underwriting and asset management to prepare credit memos and annual loan reviews. The Portfolio Banker provides expertise in analyzing, structuring, and underwriting varying levels of complex loan products (including bridge and construction loans) by analyzing property rent rolls, financial statements, cash flows, and valuations. The role regularly interfaces with Clients, Relationship Managers, Regional Relationship Managers, Credit Administrators and Senior Management, and recommendations on credit extension decisions and credit risk rating decisions. Post‑loan boarding duties include monitoring financial reporting, covenant compliance, and financial trends of borrowers, property valuations, and market conditions. The Portfolio Banker is typically the secondary point of contact for specific relationships and is expected to deliver exemplary service to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Analyze property and company financial statements, rent rolls, guarantor personal financial statements, and other pertinent information to assess creditworthiness and risk.

Spread financial statements and federal income tax returns on CASH Insight for properties, businesses, borrowers, and guarantors.

Monitor the performance of the CRE loan portfolio, evaluating property cash flow, performance covenants, and financial conditions of borrowers and guarantors.

Assess liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of borrowers and guarantors, benchmarking against comparable industries and geographic locations.

Prepare and present credit memos to senior staff or committees for lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.

Periodically credit risk through financial trends, credit bureau reports, pay habits, and other borrower/guarantor information.

Ensure compliance with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and creditworthiness standards by updating credit loan file information and adhering to loan agreement requirements.

Collaborate directly with clients to support client retention, new business growth, and the bank’s reputation as a trusted partner in the commercial real‑estate space.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Regulation E (EFT), Bank Secrecy Act, FDIC Insurance, Privacy Laws, Regulation BB (CRA), Regulation B (ECOA), Regulation X (RESPA), Regulation Z, UCC, Deposit Products, Investment Products, Loan Products, Loan Documentations, Account Services, Trust Services, Bank Operations.

Judgment and Market Knowledge.

Time Management Skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (especially Excel and Word).

Clear understanding of the English Language (spoken & written).

Advanced Mathematics Skills.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline preferred.

Minimum of 5‑10 years of experience in field or related area with strong emphasis on commercial real‑estate underwriting, asset management, customer service, and credit portfolio management.

Additional Requirements

Ability to travel to various bank locations as needed.

Some Saturday hours required.

Employees holding sensitive positions are required to be absent from their duties for a minimum of two consecutive weeks each year. This position has been deemed a sensitive position and therefore requires annual absence as specified.
