Software Engineering Vice President – Sportsbook
Senior leadership position responsible for delivering a next‑generation customer experience for America’s #1 Sportsbook, driving personalized and live betting features, and ensuring fast, reliable, and compliant service delivery.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Sportsbook product engineering organization, aligned with overall product and technology strategy.
Collaborate with Sportsbook Core Engineering and Product teams to define goals, metrics, and ways of working.
Lead, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing engineering team, fostering a culture of rapid innovation, continuous improvement, and ownership.
Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent to build a motivated and collaborative team.
Oversee the design and development of innovative, performant customer experiences, ensuring quality and speed of delivery in two‑week increments.
Implement best practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, and architectural evolution, to maintain operational excellence during peak betting events.
Ensure high availability, performance, and security of sportsbook services, minimizing downtime during critical sporting events.
Partner with Core Engineering leaders to drive compliance with gaming regulations and security standards across all sportsbook systems.
Communicate engineering plans, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
Manage the Sportsbook product engineering budget and allocate resources strategically.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of software engineering experience, focusing on product engineering and delivering customer value.
5+ years of senior leadership experience (Director or VP level) with geographically dispersed teams.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams delivering incremental value every two weeks.
Strategic thinking, data‑driven decision making, and a bias for action.
Experience with Lean, Agile, and Continuous Delivery principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Passion for technology, continuous learning, and a customer‑first mindset.
Business acumen, aligning engineering investment with customer outcomes and metrics.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities concurrently.
