Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. In this role you will work on a critical project within Looker, our Business Intelligence offering on Google Cloud Platform, and help improve its reliability and operational excellence. You will have opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves, working across full stack disciplines such as distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile.
Preferred working location Kirkland, WA, USA; Sunnyvale, CA, USA.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years programming experience in C++.
5 years experience with design, architecture, and testing/launching software products.
Experience with reliability and business intelligence.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8 years experience with data structures and algorithms.
5 years experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross‑functional or cross‑business projects.
Experience with data warehousing and databases.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on high‑impact projects.
Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
Contribute across several project areas in Looker, focusing on reliability, operational excellence, debuggability, and monitoring.
Lead projects, contribute to the codebase, and grow and influence the Looker engineering team.
Work closely with Product Manager to define product direction and contribute to strategic organizational decisions.
