Job Description Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, 32-bit microprocessors, field‑programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed‑signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). We also license Flash‑IP solutions that are incorporated in a broad range of products.

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Transitional Support opening based in San Jose, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the duties listed below.

Design complex digital integrated circuits at the block, subsystem, or system level (100M+ gates) using System Verilog

Design experience with processor sub‑system with ARM, RISC‑V, Tensilica processors

Lead the IP evaluation and decision of CPUs

Run synthesis, timing and work closely with back team

Development and understand micro‑architecture

Work with design lead/manager to execute the design activities

Support ASIC lab validation including recreating issues and identifying fixes

Working experience with PCIe protocols, or ONFI/Toggle NAND, or DDR4/5 or NVMe protocols

Requirements/Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Minimum of 15 years proven silicon design experience

Direct hands‑on work experience with ASIC/SoC designs

Proficient in SystemVerilog and scripting languages

Excellent leadership and project management skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams

Physical Requirements: 80% Sitting, 10% Walking, 10% Standing, Usual Business Hours.

Benefits of working at Microchip.

The hourly pay range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $88,000 - $232,000.*

Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
