Job Overview Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking a

Systems Engineer (MBSE)

or

Principal Systems Engineer (MBSE) .

The role will serve on‑site in the Redondo Beach, CA area and may be filled as either title.

This position is contingent upon acquiring and maintaining a U.S. Government security clearance per customers’ requirements.

The role requires a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

Use MBSE to perform logical and systematic instantiation of Segment architecture requirements and decomposition into a total system definition.

Generate Segment models that establish linkages and traceability across requirements and verification artifacts.

Develop and manage integration between MBSE environments and other SE tools and data sources to maintain Segment models.

Ensure that MBSE Segment models are compliant with standards and the system architecture development plan.

Act as the focal point for Segment MBSE model configuration management.

Integrate with other modeling teams/environments (other IPTs/Segments, Partners, and Customers) external to the Segment MBSE environment.

Mentor junior system engineer team members to enhance MBSE tool skills.

Collaborate and support cross‑functionally to establish the Segment architecture and CONOPS, perform trade studies and analysis, flow‑down the architecture and CONOPS into requirements and interfaces, and support verification planning.

Support the preparation of system/software engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, and Test Readiness Review.

Basic Qualifications – Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 2 years of experience; no master’s required.

Demonstrated experience in applying systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.

Experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and/or drawings and translating customer‑driven requirements into specifications.

Experience or exposure to DODAF modeling.

Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical documentation, presentations, and stakeholder interactions.

Current active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph before start.

Basic Qualifications – Principal Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s or 1 year with PhD.

Demonstrated experience in applying systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.

Experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and/or drawings and translating customer‑driven requirements into specifications.

Experience or exposure to DODAF modeling.

Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical documentation, presentations, and stakeholder interactions.

Current active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph before start.

Preferred Qualifications – Both Titles

Current active DoD TS/SCI with polygraph.

Certificate or advanced degree in Systems Engineering.

Certificate in SysML and/or DODAF.

Experience with MBSE tools such as SysML, UML, Cameo.

Demonstrated ability to create flexible, robust models of complex systems that can be adapted and iterated on to satisfy and provide traceability of evolving requirements.

Multi‑disciplinary engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong cross‑functional communication.

DOORS experience, including automation (DXL) and generating customer‑delivered DODAF views.

Familiarity with project & task management tools: Jira or Confluence.

Familiarity with some subset of specialty engineering tools, such as MATLAB or COMSOL (MODSIM); Visual Studio, Python (SW Engineering); Elasticsearch, Grafana, Tableau (Data & visualization); or Cadence Virtuoso, Keysight ADWS, ANSYS HFSS (Hardware Design).

Salary & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800 – $137,600.

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000 – $171,000.

The range is a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers scope, responsibilities, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions when determining offers.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and potentially long‑term incentives for VP or Director positions.

Benefits include health insurance, life & disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
