to help build a sophisticated data migration suite using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Debezium, and React. This role will be based out of North America.

Responsibilities

Contribute high‑quality, well‑tested backend code to the data migration engine and its surrounding services

Collaborate effectively with Product Management, other engineers, and designers to build and deliver on the product roadmap

Participate actively in code reviews to enforce best practices and patterns

Help troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in our distributed systems

Give and solicit feedback on technical design documents and pull requests

Perform tasks related to processes such as CI/CD, quality, and testing

Qualifications

6+ years of commercial software development experience, with at least one JVM language such as Java and preferably using the Spring ecosystem

Extensive experience with streaming data platforms such as Apache Kafka and CD practices like Debezium

Extensive experience with relational data modeling and hands‑on knowledge of at least one SQL database (Postgres, MySQL, etc.)

Exposure to client‑side technologies such as JavaScript and React is a plus

Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and their time and space complexity

Curiosity, a positive attitude, and a drive to continue learning

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Position Expectations

Success Measures

Within the first three months:

Familiarize yourself with the MongoDB database and aggregation language; learn the backend tech stack including Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka; set up development infrastructure; begin collaborating with peers and contributing to code reviews.

Within six months:

Familiarize yourself with the rest of the application modernization tool stack; deliver at least one large‑scale feature that spans the entire tech stack; review and contribute to scope and technical design documents.

Within 12 months:

Become a key contributor to our backend stack, capable of taking on complex features independently; help recruit and interview new members of the team; collaborate effectively with other teams at MongoDB on cross‑functional projects.

Compensation : MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and depends on skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully‑paid gender‑neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender‑inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Salary range listed below is only applicable to U.S.‑based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is: $118,000—$231,000 USD
