Technology Labs Associate – Temp (T230432)
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Temporary Services is seeking a Technology Labs Associate to perform the following duties.
Responsibilities
Assist the Technology Labs Manager with the daily operations of library technology labs.
Help supervise, train, and support student workers, ensuring adherence to lab policies and procedures.
Provide first-line technical assistance and troubleshooting for 3D printers and related equipment; upscale complex issues to the Technology Labs Manager as needed.
Monitor and maintain lab equipment, including routine cleaning, calibration, and supply replenishment.
Support students, faculty, and staff in using lab technologies by answering questions, providing hands‑on guidance, and scheduling consultations.
Document and communicate common troubleshooting steps and operational procedures for student workers.
Track lab usage, maintain supply inventories, and report issues as directed.
Assist with setup and preparation for workshops, demonstrations, and orientations.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the labs operate efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
Prior experience with 3D printing, makerspace technologies, or lab environments strongly preferred.
Experience using library management systems is helpful.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to follow procedures accurately.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Schedule Monday – Thursday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (20 hours/week)
Hourly Rate $20.00
