Our client is a Bay Area based private equity firm seeking a business development associate to its deal origination team. The role focuses on investment target identification and developing relationships with companies and banks of interest to the firm, while maintaining a database of investment bankers and business brokers. The associate is the first point of contact between the firm and company owners/CEOs.
We seek candidates with excellent sales and communication skills, able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast‑paced environment. Ideal candidates are team‑oriented, self‑starters, and capable of handling high‑level discussions with senior executives.
Requirements
1–5 years of deal sourcing experience at a PE firm or investment bank
Demonstrated superior academic performance at a top‑tier institution
Undergraduate degree in business or finance (viewed favorably)
Maturity and presence to interact with C‑level executives
Self‑starter with strong sales and communication skills
Responsibilities
Manage relationships with intermediaries (banks) and conduct proprietary deal sourcing
Identify investment targets and develop relationships with companies and banks of interest to the firm
Maintain and expand boutique banking relationships, communicating with contacts more frequently
Travel to industry events and conferences
