Job Title: Quality Lead
Job Description
The Quality Lead is responsible for ensuring that all assigned activities are performed in accordance with the Quality Management System. The role involves leading a team in creating, revising, and optimizing offline and online CMM programs and reports to meet customer print specification requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation, revision, and optimization of offline and online CMM programs/reports to reflect customer print specification requirements.
Delegate programming and production support priorities to the CMM Programming/Operating team.
Create setup and operational instructions specific to parts/machines for the CMM.
Analyze and interpret CMM reports to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
Train and oversee CMM use by inspectors and provide training to CMM programmers on complex parts/processes.
Maintain the CMM machines daily and weekly, ensuring the software (Calypso) is up-to-date and well-maintained.
Ensure that CMM-generated data is stored correctly and backed up.
Support the Quality Control team in First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process, or final inspection activities as needed.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, including statistical analysis.
Provide technical assistance and training to production, manufacturing engineering, and quality personnel.
Serve as a technical expert for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and interpretation of AMSE Y14.5M.
Understand and follow internal inspection procedures and maintain inspection records.
Maintain the ERP system according to company policies.
Stay current with industry inspection techniques, practices, and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned, such as calibration, audits, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), customer complaints, and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs).
Essential Skills
Eligibility to obtain Secret level security clearance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
First Article Inspection experience and data reporting.
Proven ability to troubleshoot CMM faults.
CMM work experience.
2+ years of experience with Calypso Zeiss CMM software.
Experience with Calypso programming language.
Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to meet deadlines and willingness to work overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Aerospace industry experience is desired.
Work Environment This is a mid-size manufacturing company specializing in the Aerospace and Defense industry. The work environment is a fabrication CNC shop, which is cleaner compared to non-A&D shops. The company is in the process of streamlining engineering and quality processes to enhance efficiency. The position offers stability, opportunities for growth, and the potential to gain a Secret Clearance while working in a family-oriented environment.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reisterstown, MD.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
