Senior IT Program Manager
Data, Knowledge Management, Document Management and Legal Technology Solutions
Chicago, IL (in the loop) -- 3 days onsite, 2 days WFH
Summary: The Senior IT Program Manager will drive complex IT roadmaps as it relates to the areas of Data, KM, DMS, Litigation Support, Library/Digital Records, SharePoint and Enterprise Search related projects. You will partner with key business stakeholders to align business goals with technology initiatives within your portfolio, specifically key legal departments where you'll be interfacing directly with attorneys. You will have the support of Business Analysts to help drive requirements gathering for you. You will vet new technology vendors, communicate with existing vendors to drive enhancements and have strategic responsibility for the direction of technology within your portfolio. You will subsequently create and manage a roadmap that balances interests across business and IT stakeholders. You will then partner with the PMO and project managers to ensure delivery of projects on your roadmap.
What you'll be doing
Work across departments to understand the business functions, users, technology, security, business problems and needs that can be addressed with technology solutions
Work with business function and IT colleagues to evaluate, select, configure, pilot, implement solutions that address problems/needs, delivering significant value and positive user experience
Stay current with trends in your assigned area – both business and technology trends that influence the area. Maintain awareness of best practices and competitive intelligence of what other organizations are doing in this area.
Based on the above, in collaboration with the business stakeholders, determine the short- and long-term roadmaps for your program – adjusting over time as priorities and technologies change. Manage all products for your area, in this case, the Firm's Enterprise Search engine, Collaboration Spaces, Expertise Management, and approximately 50 smaller systems and tools.
Make key tradeoff, risk, and other critical decisions to do the "right" thing for the program, taking into account all perspectives.
Champion change and innovation with a forward-thinking program of projects and program roadmap.
Determine skills needed, roles needed, and create and organize project teams based on resource estimates from the resource owners (Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, Project Managers, etc.) Resolve resource, timing or other conflicts between projects and groups
Work with other Senior IT colleagues to create solutions for technology trends that span across programs (e.g. mobile, data/analytics, security, etc.)
Facilitate the annual IT project budgeting process with accounting and IT portfolio directors for your area
Hire, train, and lead staff in this area for high levels of performance and results, professional development and impact
