The Emergency Department Clinical Educator is a skilled clinician who partners with Adult and Transitional Care leadership to support and develop Emergency Department staff. This role provides training, coaching, and education for nurses, patients, and families—strengthening clinical quality, patient experience, and the overall work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver effective clinical education and support to Emergency Department staff.

Assess learning needs and develop targeted training to advance team competency.

Support compliance with Joint Commission (TJC) and CMS standards.

Contribute to quality and performance improvement initiatives across the Emergency Department and broader organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable to Executive Director of Emergency Services for overall work performance.

Acts as a resource in identification of hospital staff with specific expertise for education and/or need for remediation and develops opportunities for growth.

Assists with organization and facilitates annual updates for all staff, including regulatory topics, skills days, and BLS/ACLS/PALS/MAB/MICN training and retraining.

Develops and implements a systematic process for the assessment, development, and evaluation of the facility’s health care staff in order to promote positive patient outcomes and experience.

Demonstrates understanding and commitment to the facility’s IRAISE values, mission, vision, goals, policies, procedures, role expectations, and other functions needed to perform in the Emergency Department.

Demonstrates clinical performance in the department, acting as a clinical resource.

Demonstrates clinical experience and/or expertise in ED monitoring devices: defibrillator, invasive/non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, external pacemakers, Zoll hypothermia monitoring, etc.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in nursing; Master’s degree in nursing preferred.

5 years of recent RN experience as an ER Registered Nurse is required.

A current RN licensure in the State of California is required.

Current Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification; can obtain within 6 months of hire/start date.

Emergency Nurse Certification

Critical Care Nursing Certification

Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification

Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $109,774.08 - $144,078.48.
