The Opportunity Join our dynamic Technology – Engineering & Systems Integration team as a Platform Engineer. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining the foundational infrastructure and services that power our applications. You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and data teams to ensure our platform is scalable, secure, and developer‑friendly.
We’ll leverage our technical innovation and efficiency by staying hands‑on while contributing to a multifaceted team of engineers to streamline and automate operations and processes. You will identify and define user/customer requirements, focusing on developing user interfaces across mobile, web, and tablets. You will create software components and services that interact seamlessly with upstream and downstream components, ensuring business requirements are met through effective coding and programming.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring the final product meets their needs.
Design and develop user interfaces that are functional and enhance user experience.
Write clean, maintainable code and create specifications that support business objectives.
Design and implement robust APIs and microservices using Python, FastAPI, and OpenAPI.
Architect and maintain containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
Develop and optimize data models and queries using PostgreSQL and ORMs such as SQLAlchemy.
Champion test‑driven development (TDD) practices, including unit and integration testing.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build distributed systems leveraging message queues (RabbitMQ) and caching layers (Redis).
Integrate authentication and authorization mechanisms using Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC, and Azure Active Directory.
Work with Azure cloud services, including API gateways, front door, and object storage (Blob, File Storage).
Debug Kubernetes‑hosted services.
Explore and implement interactions with AI/LLM systems, including agentic workflows, vector stores and embedding‑based search.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance and reliability.
Occasionally contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code.
Travel as required to meet with external clients.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Strong understanding of agile delivery and development methodologies.
Proficiency in application development tools and quality assurance practices.
Ability to build and manage relationships with clients, fostering trust and value.
Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas with clarity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Typically 4–6 years of professional platform engineering or software development and system administration experience.
Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI for backend development.
Solid experience with microservices architecture, API design, and implementation.
Hands‑on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and Helm.
Deep understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and ORM tools.
Proven experience with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD methodologies.
Experience with mTLS for secure service‑to‑service communication.
Familiarity with Agile Delivery methodologies and application delivery processes.
Experience with application development tools and quality assurance practices.
Knowledge of testing practices, system development lifecycle, and system integration.
Ideal Additional Experience
Experience building and evolving distributed systems.
Experience with integration technologies: APIs, message queues, caches.
Familiarity with identity and access management tools such as Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC, and AAD.
Exposure to cloud services (Azure preferred), including API gateways and object storage.
Experience with LLMs, vector databases, and semantic search.
Knowledge of CI/CD tools and infrastructure automation (Terraform, GitHub Actions) are assets.
Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, emotional agility, and ability to collaborate in hybrid environments.
Proactive learning and adapting to new technologies.

What We Offer You
Comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on performance. Base salary ranges: $142,600–$261,500 (US). For NYC Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento): $171,200–$297,200. Additional benefits include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off.
Hybrid model – most external client roles work 40–60% of time in person.
Flexible vacation policy – you decide how much vacation time you need.
