Job Title: Sales Director to Banks and Institutional Investors – Generative AI
Location: New York City Metropolitan Area (On-site)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Role Summary Scalata seeks a highly accomplished and results-oriented Head of Sales to spearhead our sales initiatives targeting Banks and Institutional Investors. This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies, building and nurturing high-level relationships within target client organizations, and driving significant revenue growth through the adoption of Scalata’s cutting‑edge generative AI solutions.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in the financial services sector, particularly within banking and institutional investment domains. You possess a strong understanding of financial markets, regulatory landscapes, and the specific challenges and opportunities these institutions face. You are adept at articulating the value proposition of advanced AI technologies and translating complex solutions into tangible business outcomes for clients. As a proven revenue generator and thought leader, you will be instrumental in establishing Scalata as the leading generative AI partner for financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop, implement, and refine sales strategies focused on acquiring and expanding relationships with banks and institutional investors. Define target market segments, value propositions, and sales methodologies tailored to Scalata’s generative AI offerings.
Revenue Generation & Pipeline Management: Take ownership of the sales targets for the banking and institutional investor segment. Build, manage, and forecast a robust sales pipeline, consistently meeting and exceeding revenue goals. Proven ability to manage significant pipelines (e.g., experience managing $15M pipelines) and drive high‑value client engagements is essential.
Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior executives (including C‑suite) within client organizations. Build deep, long‑term relationships by understanding their strategic priorities, operational challenges, and how Scalata’s AI solutions can drive transformation, efficiency, and competitive advantage. Help clients navigate industry disruption, regulatory change, and evolving customer expectations.
Market Analysis & Solution Development: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, regulatory shifts, and client needs within the banking and institutional investment space. Collaborate closely with product and technology teams to provide market feedback, shaping the development of innovative, client‑centric generative AI solutions for areas such as credit risk assessment, portfolio management, compliance automation, and data analysis.
Value Proposition Articulation: Clearly articulate Scalata’s unique value proposition, focusing on the benefits of our generative AI platform for automating the credit lifecycle, enhancing decision‑making, managing risk, and ensuring compliance. Deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations tailored to sophisticated financial audiences.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success, to ensure seamless GTM execution, effective solution delivery, and high client satisfaction.
Thought Leadership: Establish and drive thought leadership for Scalata within the financial services AI domain. Represent Scalata at industry conferences, contribute to publications, and participate in relevant forums to position the company as an innovator and leader in generative AI for finance.
Team Building (Future): As the company grows, potentially build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing sales team focused on the financial sector. Foster a culture of success, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 10‑15 years of experience in enterprise sales roles within the financial services industry, with a significant portion dedicated to selling complex technology, data, or software solutions directly to banks and/or institutional investors.
Track Record: Proven and demonstrable track record of exceeding sales quotas, building substantial sales pipelines (e.g., $15M ), and closing large, complex deals within the target market.
Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the banking and institutional investment sectors, including common workflows, key challenges, regulatory environments (e.g., familiarity with concepts around credit risk, compliance like AML/KYC, relevant financial regulations), and decision‑making processes.
Technology Acumen: Strong knowledge of and passion for technology, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and ideally Generative AI technologies and their practical applications within financial services. Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Sales Strategy & Execution: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sophisticated sales strategies, including market segmentation, territory planning, pipeline management, and forecasting.
Relationship Building: Exceptional executive presence and relationship‑building skills, with proven ability to engage, influence, and build trust with C‑suite leaders and senior stakeholders within large financial institutions.
Communication & Negotiation: Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong negotiation skills with a history of successfully closing complex contracts.
