The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine seeks a dedicated general adult hematologist to serve as Clinical Assistant Director of the Comprehensive Adult Sickle Cell Program in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. This key leadership position requires a strong clinical focus and a keen interest in and a broad understanding of the various characteristics and dimensions of sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies in adults, in order to provide exceptional patient care while contributing to the program’s strategic growth and academic mission. The Assistant Director will help lead a multi‑disciplinary team, manage the transition from pediatric to adult care, and support a robust clinical and translational research agenda. The Assistant Director will play an integral role in advancing our institution’s gene therapy initiatives and assisting the Medical Director in providing strategic and operational oversight for all aspects of the program.

Applicant must have an M.D. degree or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME accredited program. Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board certified in Internal Medicine. Board certification in Hematology/Oncology is preferred.
