The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in financial modeling, data analysis, financial statement analysis and system maintenance. Preferred candidates will also have health care or related field experience in annual budget and forecast development, financial reporting, monthly GL close support, accounting and financial task completion, project management, ROI analysis and financial modeling, P&L analysis, and proficiency in financial planning systems. The role also requires strong presentation skills, including the ability to clearly communicate financial results and recommendations to key stakeholders.

Reporting to the Mass General Brigham Health Care at Home department of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role in support of all units of MGB Health Care at Home, consisting of MGB Home Care, Home Hospital and Ambulance Services.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field required

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred

Experience

Experience in accounting or finance 3-5 years required

Experience in a role within a large healthcare organization 3-5 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong written, oral communication and critical thinking skills

Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance

Ability to develop and interpret complex financial models, pro formas, and value propositions

Understanding of the health care industry specific to post-acute care

Advanced skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, VBA, complex functions) and experience interpreting and operating complex spread sheets

Experience with financial planning system StrataJazz or related system

Experience with cost accounting systems such as StrataJazz or EPSi

Proficiency in GL accounting systems such as Workday or a related system

Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic

Ability to effectively and consistently thrive in a fast-paced work environment and independently react and respond to high priority initiatives

Strong level of understanding and operation of MS PowerPoint, Word and Access

Financial Planning and Analysis

Manages annual budget and forecast process in coordination with operational and financial leadership within MGB Health Care at Home and the MGB Community division

Performs key tasks related to operation of financial planning system (StrataJazz) including data management and ad hoc reporting

Performs modeling and ad hoc analytics according to volume and staffing assumptions in line with operational goals and strategic decisions

Analyzes financial and statistical data to identify areas of revenue optimization and cost savings

Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual KPI reports and performs analyses that drive insight and influence executive level decisions of senior leadership

Contributes to multi-year projection for the assessment of long term financial stability of MGB Health Care at Home

Present financial analyses, performance trends, and recommendations to key stakeholders, including senior operational and clinical leaders

Ensures that deadlines are met in accordance with budget and operational calendars

General Ledger Close Process

Delivers monthly reports of statistical and financial results for trend analysis and comparison to budget plan; analytical reports are presented at monthly close meetings by the MGB Health Care at Home Executive Director of Finance to the CFO of the MGB Community and Specialty divisions

Maintains posting and submission of monthly close reports, financial statements and summaries to MGB Close Accounting SharePoint site PowerPoint presentation

Works cross functionally with MGB Accounting department by evaluating financial data and preparing financial summaries for the interpretation of budget variances and recording of financial transactions and accruals

Utilizes GL financial management system Workday for P&L interpretation and analysis of reporting on financial results

Vendor Management

Supports operational leadership in supply chain management and works with internal procurement specialists to resolve issues related to vendor billing

Manages relationships with vendors and aids in approval of invoices and expense requisitions

Key Analytics and Tasks

Engages in ad hoc analytical projects to drive key decisions of senior leadership related to MGB Home Hospital, Ambulance Services and Home Care

Manages the development of the monthly Virtual P&L for MGB Home Hospital, producing monthly financial margin outcomes against budget for partnerships with Mass General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Newton Wellesley Hospital and Salem Hospital

Prepares the monthly MGB Home Hospital invoice to the five acute hospitals and three POs that utilize the program within MGB

Assists in Position Control process, providing support for the evaluation of approval of position requests from operational leaders to senior leadership

Prepares overtime utilization and productivity reports for MGB Home Hospital leadership and MGB Health Care at Home as required

Collaboration

Collaborates with financial analysts and management, cross functional departments, MGB Enterprise Finance and senior leaders

Works with MGB Ambulance administrative staff and billing representatives

Mentors junior staff where needed, assuming a high level of proficiency in key areas of financial planning and analysis

Attends meetings as required and presents financial and statistical performance when necessary

Additional Functions and Expectations

Performs system training and financial interpretation to junior staff and operational leaders

Serves in work groups and committees where assigned

Maintains an understanding of organizational goals and policies, regulatory compliance and relevant awareness of the health care industry

Adheres to policies of confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and HIPPA guidelines
