Portfolio Officer – Middle Office (Based in Beijing)
Join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as a Portfolio Officer – Middle Office and contribute to financing sustainable infrastructure across Asia. This role is based in Beijing.
AIIB is a multilateral development bank that finances green, technology‑enabled infrastructure projects across Asia and beyond. Founded in 2016, the bank is led by 111 member countries and holds a AAA rating with a capital base of USD 100 billion.
The Portfolio Management Department (PMD) monitors the implementation of AIIB‑funded projects, providing administration, risk management, and quality assurance for the bank’s growing portfolio of sovereign‑backed and non‑sovereign‑backed financing projects.
The Portfolio Officer – Middle Office reports to the Senior Portfolio Officer and the Head of PMD’s Middle Office. The role delivers administrative, technical, and paralegal support to portfolio officers while ensuring high‑quality service delivery to AIIB’s clients.
Responsibilities
Support the Head of MO to establish, maintain, and innovate operating and reporting systems and processes to enhance service standards, create efficiencies, and reduce operational risks.
Assist client‑facing portfolio officers and the Project and Asset Management team in assessing investment performance, reviewing compliance, processing payments and repayments, mitigating risks, recovering project‑related expenses, and identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio efficiencies and impact.
Ensure clients’ adherence to contractual obligations under finance documents, particularly timely submission of reportorial requirements.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the database of project‑related data and documentation for management information.
Support the Head of MO in carrying out initiatives designed to facilitate PMD’s interaction with other units and in the development of systems and procedures to facilitate the credit administration process.
Coordinate documentation of lessons learned and operational insights as well as feedback to investment‑operation teams and portfolio‑management teams to continuously improve the bank’s operations and systems.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Head of MO.
Requirements
Minimum 5‑8 years of relevant working experience in monitoring project implementation for infrastructure investment operations.
Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Adequate understanding of the middle office’s role in portfolio management and the value it adds to internal and external clients.
Knowledge of know‑your‑customer/integrity‑due‑diligence activities is an advantage.
Demonstrated track record of successfully resolving operational issues.
Proficiency in managing financial models and running sensitivities; experience in building and auditing models is a plus.
Superior written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to synthesize complex issues concisely and effectively.
Prior experience in deal origination, project structuring, and negotiation is an asset.
Experience in Asia, including the Middle East and Central Asia, is a plus.
