Department Chairperson, English SY2026-27 (NBOE) We are looking for an experienced English Department Chair to lead our department for the upcoming school year. The role is based at Newark Public Schools, Newark, NJ.

Qualifications & Requirements

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

New Jersey Department of Education Supervisor Certificate.

New Jersey Department of Education Certificate in Supervisor (0106).

Minimum of three (3) years successful experience teaching the related content area or related experience.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities

Facilitates growth and development of teachers working collaboratively with peers.

Assists teachers in alignment, articulation, integration, and implementation of curriculum across grade levels.

Teaches demonstration lessons and serves as a peer coach/mentor for staff.

Provides teachers opportunities to develop effective instructional techniques, strategies, and professional behaviors.

Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment, and instruction.

Attends and participates in ongoing professional development activities.

Provides teachers opportunity to enhance knowledge of content and management skills.

Analyzes and communicates student assessment data, making program recommendations.

Provides reports on progress of program initiatives.

Performs other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment as assigned by the Principal.

Monitors implementation of district's approved content program.

Attends in-service workshops.

Assists classroom teacher and aides in the creative use of new tech equipment and supplementary materials.

Performs other duties and tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Reports To Principal

Salary, Employment Period, and Union Affiliation

Salary Range: $92,000 - $128,000 (pending salary negotiations)

Employment Period: Eleven (11) months

Union Affiliation: CASA
