Chief Estimator, C&I
About the Role
The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the Estimating team for a wide range of electrical construction projects. Core functions include administering operating budgets, staffing, work assignments, salary and performance reviews. The role supports and enforces department standards and procedures, provides the final review and approval of estimate packages, and coordinates with the Operations Manager and Division Manager on project selection.

Essential Functions
Take on leadership functions within the Estimating department.
Review and evaluate requests for estimates, proposals and/or qualifications.
Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates.
Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
Maintain and improve the precision database.
Develop and maintain cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates.
Develop and maintain estimating procedures and guidelines.
Prepare reports as needed.
Set departmental budget.
Determine constructability requirements.
Lead, direct, and audit the work of assigned staff; act as a mentor.
Advise staff on company policy expectations.
Coordinate employee performance reviews.
Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.
May develop training requirements for the estimating staff.
Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform essential functions at a Company‑designated office or field location.
Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Ethics and other industry‑specific professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Lead or Senior‑level Estimator.
10+ years of experience within the construction industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of the NEC and local codes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and estimating software.
Team player with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, and similar plans and specifications, including blueprints and proposals.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted ranges are estimates and may be adjusted based on qualifications.
Two days per week remote work option for non‑field roles, subject to performance.
