Our client is a growing Alternative Investment/Financial Firm based in Midtown NYC seeking to add a Senior Economist/Strategist to their NYC based Macro Research Team. Ideal individual will be asked to conduct independent research, develop regional macro‑economic, financial, political forecasts and translate them into specific tailored reports for the Investment Committee, reporting to the Global Head of Economic Research. The role requires a strong technical understanding of the global (energy) sector, market dynamics, and emerging trends, enabling you to provide informed insights and strategic and financial expertise to the business
Responsibilities
Develop and implement research to understand new markets and potential undervalued opportunities
Interpret the meaning of global data and detailed research within global commodity (Oil/Gas/Energy) markets, highlighting fundamentals and identifying possible trading opportunities
Design and implement a high‑impact engagement strategy for funds, public pension funds, and other asset owners and institutional investors
Analyze major energy and climate policy developments across the world
Lead and analyze the production of the U.S. forecast including managing and maintaining the U.S. Macroeconomic Models
Conduct analysis of macroeconomic data, political developments and geopolitical news in key geographic areas
Respond to stakeholder internal queries about our economic outlook and forecasts
Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on market research findings
Identify areas for development and strategize and oversee complex analyses
Analyze large datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in target markets
Manage strategic projects to identify new business opportunities and support growth initiatives
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement market solutions
Support ad‑hoc analysis to support team or business initiatives
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Economic Services/Consulting/Strategic Operations or a related field
Strong and well‑developed analytic, problem‑solving and quantitative skill with exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated people leadership/management
Familiarity with economic and debt databases from official data providers
Develop and implement operational strategies to support the business's growth and profitability objectives
Exceptional project management and organizational skills
Experience in performing complex problem‑solving and business trade‑off decision analysis
Results‑orientation with an ability to take initiative, execute and complete deliverables in a timely manner
