Service Technician Responsibilities

Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with the dealer’s standards.

Test‑drive vehicles and components/systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.

Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.

Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed and provide an estimate of the time required for additional repairs.

Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 35 pounds from the ground.

Ability to physically strain to move large objects, such as pushing a dead vehicle.

Ability to stand on feet for multiple hours at a time.

Ability to crouch, kneel, and bend over.

Fine motor skills to operate hand tools, computers, and small parts.

Gross motor skills to hold hands above the head for an extended period of time.

Ability to withstand sudden light changes and stimuli from the computer/tablet screen.

Ability to see fine details in small components.

Qualifications

Previous experience at an automotive dealership preferred.

Strong understanding of the service drive.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Dexterity, requiring a steady hand and excellent hand‑eye coordination.

Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Basic computer competencies.

Positive/friendly attitude along with a customer service mentality.

Enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment.

Team player with ability to collaborate with others effectively.

Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications.

Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.

Years of experience required will vary based on position.

Willing to submit to pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
