This position develops and conducts technical training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of Design Engineering employees. Training includes both classroom and on‑the‑job training and incorporates conceptual and hands‑on instructional methods. Responsibilities include working closely with instructional design personnel and subject‑matter experts to develop new curricula; traveling throughout the service territory to attend meetings and deliver scheduled training programs; ensuring training meets relevant regulatory requirements and Eversource practices, procedures, and policies; conducting quality‑assurance audits; supervising evaluations; and certifying field employees.

Essential Functions

Works with design engineering roles and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.

Effectively implements training programs and field quality audit programs.

Supervises, directs, and instructs trainees during classroom, hands‑on, and on‑the‑job training assignments.

Evaluates performance during training and follows up on students’ learning through field visits, observations, and refresher training.

Evaluates training programs and implements improvements.

Provides updates and incorporates new procedures and revisions into training programs; reviews work with vendors, technical experts, engineers, field personnel to provide operational input into the selection and operation of new equipment and development of new construction standards.

Technical Knowledge / Skills / Education / Licenses / Certifications

Knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.

Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, and to provide clear, confident, and enthusiastic hands‑on technical instruction.

Leadership and coaching abilities.

Familiarity with electric distribution engineering design principles, equipment, symbology, and tools such as CAD, Maximo or other work‑management systems (preferred).

Proficiency with PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel).

Working knowledge of labor contracts.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Transmission, Distribution, and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers, and supervising employees.

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Driver’s License (D.O.T. preferred).

Working Conditions

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment, which may require assistance outside of regular work hours and location.

Compensation and Benefits Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. Annual salary range:

$119,340.00–$132,600.00 . Check our careers site for an overview of benefits programs.
