Product Developer - Packaging
Position Summary
As a Product Developer for Packaging, you’ll create innovative packaging collections for top global brands, overseeing projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities include developing dielines, managing timelines, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring brand consistency.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, typography, and print production is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You’ll balance creative vision with technical expertise to deliver exceptional designs aligned with client needs and market trends.
Responsibilities Strategic project planning, timeline management, and collaboration
Lead the strategic planning, procurement, and execution of high-impact projects, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Develop and communicate strategic project scope and risk management strategies, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to potential challenges.
Spearhead strategic collaboration with internal teams, including art, development, and operations, to drive innovation in packaging development.
Account for high complexity kitted sets and advent calendars with packaging development timelines, from packaging production to product fulfillment.
Vendor selection and coordination
Approach packaging development with an understanding of cost parameters and cost complexity as it relates to project briefs.
Collaborate with external print and packaging vendors, negotiating strategically to align with target cost ranges while maintaining top-notch quality.
Cultivate and nurture robust relationships with both domestic and international packaging vendors, aiming to enhance and streamline the packaging development process through a clear understanding of cost parameters.
Develop creative concepts into tangible products
Source and develop innovative packaging solutions. Collaborate with design and development teams to create packaging that enhances the overall brand and product experience.
Execute the development of creative packaging solutions that meet the needs for brand aesthetic, consumer use, manufacturing capability, quality and target cost ranges.
Translate client briefs and creative concepts into technical printing specifications for packaging projects.
Work with creative team and vendors to achieve desired results within time and budget.
Print and packaging material/technology expertise
Stay informed about the latest print and packaging materials/technologies and trends.
Provide insights and recommendations on new solutions to enhance project outcomes for both exterior and interior builds.
Cross-functional leadership
Provide strategic insight in weekly status meetings with cross-functional partners, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Partner with compliance, creative and production to improve processes.
Strategic packout plans
Develop and implement strategic project packet plans, collaborating closely with production to optimize packaging and distribution process.
Requirements
4+ years of experience leading successful development projects.
Proven experience in print and packaging development or production management.
Strong knowledge of various print technologies, processes, and packaging materials.
Proficiency in advanced project management tools and software.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Salary $75,000-$85,000
