Overview
The Montana Medical Association (MMA) is hiring a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its physician-led membership organization dedicated to advancing the medical profession and serving 1,700 physician, resident, and medical student members. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in physician or healthcare-related member organizations, strong capabilities in advocacy, communications, and member and business relations, and a proven record of expanding non-dues revenue. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO oversees a $1.3M budget and leads the daily operations and administration of the MMA and its related entities, including MTMedPAC, the MMA Foundation, and association management service contracts. The CEO directs a dedicated staff and manages all core organizational functions, while also leading the MMA’s legislative efforts and advocacy initiatives at both the state and federal levels. Qualifications
Strong ability to navigate the complex intersection of healthcare, public policy, and the need to improve health outcomes and protect the patient‑physician relationship in an increasingly challenging political atmosphere is essential. Experience supporting governance functions, including implementing Board and Executive Committee decisions and assisting the Executive Committee with strategic planning, membership planning, and organizational initiatives. A strong working knowledge of organizational and financial management, particularly in budgeting, financial planning, and ensuring long-term organizational sustainability. Demonstrated success in managing and developing staff, fostering teamwork, and leading small, high‑performing teams. Experience building and maintaining relationships with legislators and government officials/agencies to strengthen their understanding of the medical profession. Proven experience effectively leading a membership organization, nonprofit, government, and/or business is required. Advanced degree preferred in business administration, public health, public administration, or a related field; or a medical doctorate or juris doctorate. Benefits
