Job Summary

This leadership role will own reserving and loss analytics and results management for the Programs' book of business, leading multiple key processes across the Reserving and Loss Analytics department. You will collaborate closely with underwriting, pricing, claims, and finance to develop a common view of the business, identify emerging trends, and propose corrective action. The role requires a comprehensive line‑of‑business focus (Auto, GL, Prop, and WC) and a partnership with Pricing and Underwriting on industry trends and underwriting actions.
Responsibilities
Own Reserving and Loss Analytics for the highly visible Programs’ book of business.
Work in close collaboration with underwriting, pricing, claims, and finance to develop a common view of the business.
Lead projects across the Reserving & Loss Analytics Team and get work done in collaboration with others.
Provide proactive insights, identify drivers, and ensure reserve analyses reflect any changes to minimize volatility and avoid surprises.
Apply innovative approaches and leading‑edge tools to analyze the business, seeking opportunities to leverage advanced analytics.
Prioritize work to deliver analyses that benefit the organization most significantly.
Assume an active leadership role within Arch’s actuarial community and stay current on new reserving methodologies, trends, and external issues.
Skills & Experience
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressively complex actuarial roles within the property and casualty insurance industry.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Reserving function.
Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Leadership experience as a teacher, manager, peer, leader, and contributor to a positive culture.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; theoretical foundation and high work quality.
Expert proficiency in Excel, SQL; knowledge of Power BI, Snowflake, Python preferred.
Self‑sufficiency to build comprehensive reserving models and analytic solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain complex technical concepts to executive leadership.
Proven track record leading and developing high‑performing actuarial teams.
Experience presenting to executive management and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to provide proactive guidance and sought‑out insights to business leaders.
Compensation Base pay range: $160,000.00/yr – $200,000.00/yr (NYC/JC).
Chicago/Hartford/St. Paul: $153,000 – $193,000/yr.
