Job Summary
This front‑line, member‑facing position handles daily financial transactions, analyzes members’ needs, performs consultative selling for our financial products, and ensures a smooth onboarding and membership experience. It supports the credit union’s mission, vision, and service standards while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and regulatory compliance.
Essential Job Duties
Teller Duties
Processes member transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and check cashing.
Handles various transactions and responds to member account inquiries. Posts transactions to members’ accounts and maintains member records.
Balances cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy.
Issues cashier’s checks, money orders, and bank drafts.
Verifies and reconciles daily transactions to maintain accurate records.
Proactively educates members about our products and services.
Member Service Duties
Resolves member issues and problems, providing timely and regular updates.
Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
Assists members with deposit accounts (opening, closing, maintenance, certificates of deposit), monetary transactions (draft orders, stop payments, statement copies, check deposits, cash deposits/withdrawals), deposit services (safe deposit boxes, direct deposits, payroll distributions, ATM/check card orders, PIN numbers, notary services), loans (credit card, personal loans, bill payments), business accounts (open DBA, sole proprietor, LLCs, corporations), IRA and fiduciary transactions.
Upholds the Credit Union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including the Customer Identification Program and anti‑money laundering policies.
Reports unusual or suspicious activity to the Risk, Legal, and Compliance Department.
Completes Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and submits them to the designated internal department in a timely manner.
Ensures all member interactions and transactions are conducted with integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Financial Sales Duties
Develops and maintains strong relationships with members, understanding their needs and providing tailored financial products and solutions.
Engages with members to understand financial situations and short‑term and long‑term objectives.
Performs consultative selling to offer personalized products that help members achieve their goals.
Collaborates with other departments—Investment Services, Consumer Lending, Mortgage and Business Lending—to provide comprehensive financial guidance.
Promotes financial products and services suitable for members based on their needs.
Identifies opportunities for account and membership growth and cross‑selling additional products or services.
Maintains knowledge of products and services offered.
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with digital communication tools.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, features, and benefits.
Education and Experience
Minimum one year of experience in the financial industry, consultative sales role, or related field.
Minimum high‑school diploma; more than one year of related experience is acceptable.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Flexibility with schedule to meet member and organizational needs.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Salary
$23.00 – $25.00 per hour (Depends on experience)
