Job Description Crowe’s dynamic and entrepreneurial Federal Tax Consulting Services practice incorporates cutting‑edge technology into an innovative team‑based approach to deliver specialized federal tax consulting to clients ranging from middle‑market companies to the Fortune 500. The group is currently searching for a senior manager to lead projects in the areas of energy tax credits and R&D tax credits. A successful candidate will be prepared to assist the current leadership in expanding revenue by working with practice offices on existing clients and external opportunities coming through our business development team and possess the following skills.
Responsibilities
Managing R&D projects with a focus on growing R&D tax credit engagements for Energy companies. Expertise in seismic imaging technology, experimental drilling technology, experimental completion technology, stage spacing for well completions, and experimental fluids and proppant formulas will help Crowe gain market share.
Managing Energy Tax Credit projects, including Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship (PWA) engagements for both large and small energy projects (solar, wind, hydrogen, battery storage, etc.) and Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and Production Tax Credit (PTC) studies. Perform tax technical analysis and draft reports for clients.
Drive business development and sales growth.
Exhibit proven leadership and project management skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast‑paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
Perform tax technical analysis and quality review on tax credit studies and communicate tax technical issues to the broader team.
Deep understanding of IRC Sections 45 and 48 and related regulations and guidance.
Effectively lead client discussions with multiple stakeholders including Tax Directors, General Contractors, Project Managers, etc.
Develop and execute project work plans; develop appropriate quantitative and qualitative documentation to support project results.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making skills.
Strong data management skills, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx.
Mentor and develop staff and young professionals, including on‑the‑job technical training and coaching.
Personal drive to develop self/others and provide leadership insight to the existing leadership team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or engineering, MS in related field a plus.
At least 7+ years experience in public accounting; strong preference for Big 4 or large regional firm experience.
Experience in the subject matter areas described above preferred.
CPA, EA, or PE credential required.
