VP of Brokerage The VP of Brokerage is responsible for the overall management and profitable growth of the Freight Brokerage service offering. This individual would report directly to the SVP of Transportation and work closely with the executive leadership of the company.

Specifically, this individual will be tasked with creating and implementing a strategic plan to optimize our freight brokerage division. They will have the ability and the resources to build a team around them to significantly improve our brokerage operations in a short time period and scale to available business levels. The ideal candidate must have significant brokerage leadership experience and experience building a brokerage business based on customer demand and market forecasting.

Responsibilities

Create a strategic business plan and formalize our brokerage department including sales goals, projections and timelines and revenue generation.

Design and develop a customer and carrier sales team structure including roles, compensation plans, hiring, and training.

Acquire new customers by leading the tactical customer focused selling of brokerage services both internally and externally.

Develop carrier sales techniques focused on carrier development, capacity management, and rate negotiations.

Support use of TMS Turvo infrastructure to facilitate growth and excellent customer service.

Manage all levels of brokerage business development, account management, and brokerage operations for FTL and LTL activity.

Be responsible for complete P&L (Gross Margin, Revenue, OE, ROI, Daily Dashboard).

Develop and manage KPIs (On-time Performance, Margin, Lane Balances).

Experience / Qualifications

8+ years of brokerage industry experience, familiarity with modern brokerage practices, automation, and current industry standards.

Four‑year college degree in a related field preferred.

Entrepreneurial and sales mindset with experience building, leading, driving, and managing rapid growth within a freight brokerage organization.

Ability to close and manage large account business and drive organic growth of existing accounts.

Proven track record in building scalable, repeatable processes and a disciplined, data driven culture and metrics.

Apre-existing book of customers is a major advantage to enable growth.

Relationships with high‑quality carriers are a plus and essential to long‑term vision.

Experience with multiple modes of transportation (primarily TL, some LTL & intermodal with White Glove deliveries as well).

Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS/Turvo).

Experience with multiple broker-specific Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is an advantage.

Knowledge of leading Broker Boards (Truckstop, DAT, etc.) is a plus.
