Primary Responsibilities The KeHE Retail Cheese Specialist supports onsite customer employees with the establishment and continued support of an internal cheese shop. This includes ordering products for initial set up, transmitting orders, setting up display cases, and training customer employees. The Retail Cheese Specialist provides customer support and makes recommendations for cheese pairings, portions, and complements.
Service an average of 10 stores per week
Road warriors: require reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Must have grocery and deli experience
$1,000 sign‑on bonus
Essential Functions
Present, sell, and execute all promotional activity to maximize sales and minimize residual quantities; assist in planning and execution of display programs.
Educate the customer on store needs based on trends.
Support stocking of back stock in cheese and deli; review recommended order writing.
Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
Refill, reset and merchandise cheese products for display following best‑practice guidelines.
Provide instruction to customer personnel in all cheese monger activities.
Provide sales support and training to customer sales team; offer recommendations based on specialized knowledge.
Comply with established health, sanitation, and safety policies.
Handle knives and cutters to resize cheese products.
Inspect products for quality.
Transport products using carts, U‑boats, L‑boats, or pallet jack.
Communicate with KeHE personnel regarding product discrepancies, merchandising needs, and customer requirements.
Plan and carry out daily schedules according to assigned customer locations; manage timelines and adapt to fluctuating workload.
Unbox vendor goods and disassemble boxes for recycling.
Operate field‑based electronic equipment and mobile phone for communications and timekeeping.
Operate motor vehicle to travel to and from customer locations.
Attend training and meetings as required.
Create and transmit orders for product replenishment and paperwork timely and accurately.
Apply knowledge of product and cold‑chain transport protocols.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a clean personal work environment.
Other duties may be assigned to fulfill company objectives; job duties may change as needed.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, & Skills
Proficient in written and spoken English; basic math skills.
High‑school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Microsoft Office skill (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Siebel literate within 90 days of hire.
Minimum 2 years in Service Deli knowledge (cheese, deli, perishable goods).
Valid driver’s license; maintain driving record meeting KeHE standards; reliable transportation and sufficient vehicle insurance.
Ability to work independently or with customer employees; excellent communication and customer service skills.
Work Environment The work environment is indoors; exposed to varying temperatures due to product climates and travel. Typical floor covering is vinyl.
Work Hours & Physical Demands Work schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Start times vary. Overtime, holidays, or weekends may be required. Physical demand: medium; may lift 10‑20 lbs occasionally; constant standing and walking; use of upper extremities for cutting and wrapping tools.
