Principal Fullstack Software Engineer (React, TypeScript, Node.js)
Location:
Hybrid Concord, CA
About the Role Our client is seeking a Principal Full-Stack Engineer with deep expertise across modern web technologies to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable web applications. This role combines hands‑on architecture, technical leadership, and mentorship while working closely with cross‑functional teams in product, design, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Architect, build, and maintain complex web applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Lead design and code reviews, providing technical direction and guidance to other engineers.
Collaborate with product and design teams to translate user and business requirements into elegant, performant solutions.
Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through careful system design and clean code practices.
Introduce and champion best practices around testing, CI/CD, and code quality.
Drive architectural decisions across front‑end and back‑end layers to ensure consistency, maintainability, and security.
Mentor mid‑ and senior‑level engineers, fostering a high‑performance and continuous‑learning culture.
Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in senior or principal‑level roles.
Strong understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API development.
Experience designing and operating scalable cloud applications (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Solid understanding of database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar).
Familiarity with modern frontend tooling (Vite, Webpack, ESLint, Jest, etc.).
Proven experience leading technical initiatives from concept to production launch.
Excellent communicator able to articulate tradeoffs and lead discussions across engineering and product teams.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with microservices architecture and event‑driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Background in scaling applications to handle large datasets or high concurrency.
