role at
Hightouch
Hightouch is the modern AI platform for marketing and growth teams. Our AI agents reimagine marketing workflows, allowing marketers to create content, plan campaigns, and execute strategies with transformational velocity and performance.
About The Role We are looking for a software engineer to join our Streaming Systems team, working on the high-throughput systems that collect, forward, and perform real‑time computation on billions of behavioral events from our customers’ users. You'll build the infrastructure that ingests clickstream, product interaction, and transactional data into our platform, the data foundation for our “Cursor for Marketers” AI agent product.
Our streaming products’ revenue has 10x’d over the past year, and we need systems that can handle millions of messages per second with single‑second latency end‑to‑end. We added a computation engine that personalizes user experiences in real time; we’re seeing 7‑figure market response and need to scale.
You will own and deliver projects from start to finish, work directly with customers to solve scaling problems, and influence the technical roadmap. Ownership, autonomy, and high ownership are key.
Compensation Base salary: $180,000 - $320,000 USD per year (location independent, remote‑first). Equity: ISO options, early exercise, 10‑year post‑termination exercise window.
About You You engineer faster and harder technical problems that generate real value for customers. You’re motivated by high ownership in a fast‑paced, startup environment.
Qualifications
Experience with distributed systems and high‑scale systems or a strong desire to build quickly
Experience with streaming systems like Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar, Warpstream (not required)
Experience building systems with high RPS and low p99 latency
Interview Process Recruiter screen 30 min, system design screen 45 min, hiring manager interview 30 min, system design interview 90 min. Emphasis on design discussions, no code‑brain‑teasers unrelated to daily work.
