Radiology Tech - Diagnostic Radiology - Per Diem 8 Hours Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union)
As an integral part of the Imaging Services Team, the Radiologic Technologist provides support to the Department by performing diagnostic radiology procedures in a variety of clinical settings. Responsibilities: Perform and/or assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures according to the department procedure manual, planning and executing them with consideration of physiologic and developmental age. Review radiographs for proper positioning, technique, and identification. Demonstrate complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment in the department and assigned clinical areas. Apply correct anatomic positioning skills and use markers appropriately. Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient age and body part being examined while minimizing radiation exposure. Process digital imaging cassettes with proper identification and return them to the proper location. Confirm patient identification by verbal communication, checking name and birthdate. Review the doctor’s order to ensure proper exam protocol is followed and the appropriate exam is performed. Recognize emergency situations, indicate code, and properly administer aid as appropriate. Record pertinent patient information and complete all required paperwork, assisting in maintaining file records. Maintain neat, orderly x‑ray rooms/work stations and ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies, assisting with ordering and stocking department supplies and equipment. Willingly perform other related duties such as transporting patients, scheduling exams, and assisting in the file room as directed by Supervisor or Director. Participate in after‑hours standby and callback; use a pager while on duty and on standby. Exhibit organizational skills and utilize time effectively. Accept change as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development, adapting to changing procedures and goals in a cooperative and positive manner. Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation with other departments, medical staff, and employees. Act as a mentor to and provide information for students and less experienced technologists. Act as an ambassador of goodwill when interacting with other staff members and departments. Use the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns with the department, co‑workers, or medical staff. Be responsible for work schedule hours, including assigned weekend rotations, standby, and callback. Provide radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to policy and standards. Always introduce self to patient and explain the exam to be performed. Participate in regular rotation of weekend hours as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
High School or equivalent. Specialized/technical training: Graduation from an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. Preferred Qualifications
Previous acute hospital experience desired, either as a radiologic or student technologist. Required Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH). Radiography (ARRT) Current ARRT. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).
