About American Jewish University
American Jewish University (AJU)’s mission is singularly focused on the future of Jewish life in North America—training and educating the next generation of rabbis, educators, professionals, and lay leaders, and creating innovative, dynamic pathways for Jewish learning and living. With campuses in Sherman Oaks, Beverly Hills, and Simi Valley, CA, along with distance education programs that reach learners across the nation and around the world, AJU is a private, nonprofit institution of higher education offering degree‑granting and for‑credit academic programs, as well as community‑based (non‑formal academic) learning opportunities.
AJU offers a variety of degree‑granting programming, such as online programs in early childhood education at the BA, MA, EdD, and certificate levels, as well as an EdD in Jewish Education and Communal Leadership. The University also offers an in‑person MA in Rabbinic Studies and ordains Conservative rabbis. In addition, AJU delivers for‑credit undergraduate academic programming to high school students nationwide through its Jewish Learning Experience program. In 2024‑25, the University enrolled 164 full‑time equivalent (FTE) students.
Position Overview
American Jewish University (AJU) seeks a seasoned
Program Director of Business Education and Leadership
to lead, build, and shape the University’s next generation of business and leadership offerings. These programs are designed for professionals working in Jewish organizations, as well as for those seeking to explore business and leadership theories, cases, and fundamentals through a Jewish lens.
AJU has already developed a comprehensive asynchronous MBA program along with more than ten business and leadership courses. Although student enrollment is currently paused, this robust curricular foundation—supported by established course infrastructure and technology—offers the Program Director an excellent platform from which to relaunch AJU’s business and leadership certificate programs and MBA offerings.
In addition to overseeing asynchronous and synchronous online programming, the Program Director will also develop and implement supplementary or standalone in‑person professional development and leadership learning opportunities at AJU’s Brandeis‑Bardin Campus in Simi Valley, CA, or at other locations as appropriate.
This position presents a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader with a passion for Jewish communal life to help create something truly distinctive at a pivotal moment in AJU’s evolution. Reporting to the University’s Provost and working under the vision of AJU’s new President, the Program Director will play a central role in establishing strategic partnerships with Jewish (and potentially other) organizations, while designing innovative educational pathways for learners seeking to deepen their skills in entrepreneurship, business, and leadership—all framed through a Jewish lens.
This director position is in‑person four days a week, with one remote workday, based at a TBD office in or near Encino, CA, or Sherman Oaks, CA, working collaboratively and dynamically with their administrative team, as well as AJU’s academic, leadership, and administrative staff.
Program Director, Business Education and Leadership - Key Duties
Lead, relaunch, and manage AJU’s business and leadership certificate and course offerings and MBA program, leveraging the University’s existing asynchronous curriculum and course infrastructure.
Design, develop, and implement supplementary or standalone in‑person professional development and leadership learning programs at AJU’s Brandeis‑Bardin Campus in Simi Valley, CA, and other locations as appropriate, in coordination with the University’s online business and leadership offerings.
Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with Jewish organizations—and, where appropriate, other professional and academic institutions—as the primary vehicle for relaunching AJU’s business and leadership certificate and course offerings and MBA program.
Expand AJU’s portfolio of business and leadership certificate programs, tailoring offerings for diverse learners.
Design innovative educational pathways that integrate business, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills with Jewish values and perspectives.
Shape program strategy in alignment with AJU’s mission and under the direction of the Provost and President.
Oversee academic quality, instructional delivery, and program outcomes to ensure excellence and relevance.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to develop and enhance course offerings.
Serve as an ambassador for AJU’s business and leadership programs, engaging with the Jewish communal sector and beyond.
Drive enrollment and program growth through outreach, partnerships, and innovative initiatives.
Contribute entrepreneurial vision and leadership to position AJU as a distinctive hub for Jewish‑informed business and leadership education.
