IT Support Specialist Contractor
Location: Washington, DC
Position Overview: As an IT Support Specialist contractor, you will deliver comprehensive technical and help desk support to a diverse, global workforce. Youll be responsible for hardware, software, and network troubleshooting, maintaining regulatory cybersecurity compliance, and optimizing IT operations for end-users and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide remote and in-person hardware, software, and network support to staff worldwide
Ensure governance, cybersecurity, and information assurance including FISMA compliance and implementation of cyber hygiene, data loss prevention, and related initiatives
Deliver help desk services, including device troubleshooting, patching, asset provisioning and inventory management, software and hardware maintenance, and Audio/Video support
Manage Microsoft 365 environments (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Groups)
Oversee email account lifecycle (creation, updates, deletions, archiving)
Support IT equipment logistics, including repairs, replacements, and global deployments
Gather and respond to technical inquiries over email/ticketing systems
Diagnose and fully resolve reported technical issues
Collaborate with engineering/product teams to solve problems; ramp up new users
Triage, track, and correctly route user support requests
Maintain proactive communication with customers and teammates
Required Qualifications:
Deep expertise in M365 hybrid environments, Entra ID, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Advanced proficiency in Windows troubleshooting and device support
Skilled in Microsoft 365 administration
Experience with Adobe, Power BI, Power Automate, Visio, Planner, and Project
Ability to install, configure, and support laptops and mobile devices
Proficient in remote support tools (Remote Desktop, Zoom, MS Teams)
Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance
Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and analytical software platforms
Preferred Experience:
Previous support of a hybrid, globally deployed workforce
Help Desk experience: 5+ years (preferred)
Providing support on complex software platforms: 5+ years (preferred)Scripting in Python/Bash/PowerShell: 3+ years (preferred)
Working with analytical software platforms: 3+ years (preferred)
Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities
Collaborative spirit, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to learn
Bachelors degree in IT or related field; relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL) preferred
Security Clearance:
Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate level of security clearance.
