Software Engineering Manager, AI Agents Location:

Austin, TX

Cloudflare already has the parts. You assemble them into a repeatable platform and ship real customer value fast.

Role intent Lead a team that ships production agents on the Cloudflare stack. Hands on. Execution first. Your team's code is the front door for millions.

What you will do

Build and run a team of 4 to 8 senior engineers

Set a simple roadmap and ship every two weeks

Keep quality high with crisp PRs, tests that matter, and fast rollbacks

Own on call, incident review, and redlines for latency, errors, cost

Partner with Support, Success, Product, Security, and Data to land safe automations

Prove impact with metrics. Time to first response, resolution, cost per case, automation rate

Assemble Cloudflare primitives into shared modules: Workers runtime, Durable Objects memory, Vectorize recall, KV and R2 for config and files, D1 or Postgres where needed, Queues or Pub/Sub for async

Use Agent SDK for tools, planning, memory, and traces

Bake in safety. Zero Trust, WAF, API Shield, DLP, scoped secrets, Gateway egress

Your team will build

Agents on Workers with Durable Objects for state and short-term memory

Tooling via Agent SDK, MCP, and function calling

Vectorize for semantic memory, plus evals, guardrails, and audits

Flows that summarize, propose fixes, close, and elevate cleanly to humans

Simple status and metrics. No mystery boxes

Must have

You've led an engineering team that ships in production

Strong Cloudflare platform experience or similar edge serverless work

Clear grasp of modern agent patterns and how to apply them on Cloudflare

Solid TypeScript or Rust. HTTP, queues, async, performance

Comfortable with model tooling. Prompts, tool calls, evals, safety checks

Obsessed with logs, traces, metrics. You set and hold SLOs

Nice to have

Workers AI, AI Gateway, and Vectorize in production

Salesforce or Service Cloud integrations. Webhooks and case APIs

Security depth. Prompt injection protection, secrets handling, data scopes, PII controls

OSS agent frameworks experience
