As a Networking Test Engineer you make sure that our massive and growing network is operating at its peak potential. You have experience with complex networking equipment, a deep understanding of networking protocols, test design and implementation chops and a background in IP network design. It’s your job to make sure Google’s technology can perform at scale. The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $122,000–$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with network equipment and network protocols testing and debugging.
Experience in test automation using Python or C++.
Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans and creating test cases.
Experience with TCP/IP, Python, Networking Protocols, Software Test Engineering, Test Automation, Test Automation Framework, Test Design, and Test Methodology.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with C++/C or Python, Networking Servers and Software-Defined Networking.
Responsibilities
Identify and report bugs, including escalating complex issues to executive engineers or managers.
Develop and execute test plans, including contributing to the hardening of device hardware and software by developing automated scripts and running regression on existing Google platforms.
Manage testing and releases of networking products, including managing timelines and project plans.
Design test network topologies to validate functionality, performance, stability and scalability of features and products.
Design, develop and execute test plans for networking features, equipment and systems.
