Lead Architect 1 - Nuclear Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Architect 1 – Nuclear to work on challenging assignments with an internationally recognized architectural/engineering firm. The role focuses on power and power‑related projects, including first‑of‑a‑kind projects with unique requirements.

Responsibilities

Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of architectural and engineering issues for power plant projects, related administration and security facilities, industrial projects, laboratories, and commercial facilities.

Coordinate architectural design with other disciplines and outside consultants (lab consultants, civil, structural, HVAC, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, plumbing).

Develop and interpret design basis criteria; produce architectural designs that meet functional requirements.

Modify and adapt existing design features to meet emerging design trends.

Present architectural design recommendations and proposals to staff and clients.

Assist in the preparation of 3D electronic design models, preliminary and final construction documents, and specification sections for buildings and equipment enclosures.

Conduct code and life safety analysis for complex designs and develop safety reference drawings.

Conduct energy code analysis to ensure building envelope details meet or exceed code requirements.

Review and coordinate vendor submittals for conformity with construction documents.

Develop career through peer‑learning and mentoring less experienced architects and designers.

Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

Professional BA (5 years) or MA in Architecture from an accredited program.

Minimum 10 years of experience developing commercial and industrial projects in 2D (AutoCAD) or 3D (Revit).

Current registration as a licensed or registered architect; willingness to obtain licensure in additional jurisdictions.

NCARB membership or ability to obtain NCARB membership.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (or other mainstream 3D software); proficiency in MicroStation is a plus.

Advanced 3D modeling experience.

Willingness to learn other 2D and 3D software platforms.

Experience writing and/or reviewing architectural specifications.

Experience utilizing building and life safety codes (IBC, IECC, NFPA, ADAAG, OSHA).

Experience developing project‑specific code analysis and life safety drawings.

Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.

Experience collaborating with other disciplines and clients.

Valued but Not Required Skills and Experience

LEED certification or Envision experience.

Experience with Tekla, Open Buildings Designer.

Compensation Range $116,620.00 – $179,890.00
