Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement data‑driven solutions for transportation systems. Architect and build scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, process, and store large volumes of data, establishing the foundations of our Data Engineering initiatives. Optimize database structures and data models for performance and scalability. Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and cleansing techniques. Contribute to data governance, policies, and controls to maintain data integrity, quality, and security with regulatory compliance. Work with cloud infrastructure to scale data pipelines efficiently while maintaining cost effectiveness and speed. Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance data engineering processes. Adapt quickly to changing requirements in a startup environment and mentor junior engineers to foster learning and growth. Collaborate across cross‑functional teams to align engineering efforts with product and business objectives. Support the team in meeting deadlines and delivering high‑quality software solutions. Help scale operations by coordinating solutions for problems, requirements, and processes; adapt to changes in priorities and technology choices. Engage in data science work as appropriate to contribute to data‑driven solutions. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field 5+ years of data engineering experience in startup or fast‑paced environments, including leadership roles Strong proficiency in SQL (DDL/DML, data architecture) Strong proficiency in Python and Jupyter for exploratory analysis and collaboration with data scientists Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes Experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake and AWS Experience with DBMSs such as PostgreSQL and MySQL Familiarity with geospatial data, GIS systems, and distributed systems data processing (e.g., Apache Spark) Understanding of data visualization concepts and tools Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities Your Citian Advantage
