Job Description We are seeking a Parent Advocate Coordinator who will be reporting to the Associate Vice President of Foster Care. The Parent Advocate Coordinator is expected to act as a liaison between the Case planning team and Parent Advocates assigned to each foster care unit to help enhance permanency outcomes. The Parent Advocate Coordinator will be responsible for working collaboratively with the leadership team to provide oversight and guidance to Parent Advocates in the Foster Care Division. The Parent Advocate Coordinator will appropriately utilize their unique lived experience to support parents and families in their journey toward reunification.

Primary Responsibilities

Co-facilitate bi-weekly team meetings between the Case Planning team and Parent Advocates to successfully engage parents.

Assist with managing workflow processes to ensure the Parent Advocates are adhering to the Parent Empowerment Parent (PEP) module.

Provide guidance to Parent Advocates to support parents with navigating the challenges associated with separation and by communicating their needs.

Assist with assigning a Parent Advocate to families upon intake and coordinate scheduling Parent to Parent meetings.

Maintain a tracking system to ensure that Parent Advocates are documenting their interactions and Parent to Parent meetings in the computerized record systems.

Participate in recruitment and hiring of new Parent Advocates.

Assist with the onboarding process, including the required Parent Empowerment Parent (PEP) training and other relevant trainings.

Conduct reviews of the Parent Advocate progress notes and provide guidance as needed.

Ensure the Parent Advocates attend and participate in critical case conferences.

Represent Heartshare St. Vincent’s Services at internal and external meetings.

Assist with creating and implementing ideas to celebrate parents, participate in hosting events and activities.

Maintain accessible resource materials, making them available to other HSVS staff and to parents.

Co-facilitate quarterly parent round table meetings.

Perform other related duties as assigned, within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Associate in a related Human Services field preferred.

Lived experience as a parent impacted by child welfare (ACS or Preventive Services), case must be closed for at least 1 year.

Integrity, driven, and willingness to work with children, youth, families, and in a team-oriented setting.

Travel flexibility: ability to travel within all 5 NYC boroughs and willingness to travel outside of the five boroughs.

Willingness and demonstrated capacity to teach, train, and effectively manage and lead two worksites.

Ability to meet deadlines, deescalate and manage crisis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Office, and preferably knowledge with Connections.

Preferable familiarity with OCFS/ACS regulations and Family Court.

Good strategic and critical thinking skills, writing, organizational, leadership skills, and written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail.

Works both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Able to create and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
