Position Summary The Senior Production Manager is responsible for all activities within the manufacturing facility in support of the Plant Manager/Director of Operations. This role leads the management team to achieve consistent production of high‑quality products and deliver financial profitability for the bakery.
Key Job Responsibilities
Oversee manufacturing operations for a commercial baking facility consisting of hourly associates and management staff.
Lead the achievement of a zero‑injury workplace and ensure compliance with FDA, EPA, OSHA, and HACCP regulations.
Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, actively supporting the company’s values and policies.
Enforce procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan.
Maintain records for all production and quality‑related activities, including bakery formulation records and audit documentation.
Key Behavioral Competencies
Knowledge of operations in all bakery departments: production, quality, food safety, maintenance, and materials management.
Track record of improving operations while delivering day‑to‑day performance.
Ability to analyze data using operational systems and programs.
Experience building a strong leadership team.
Ability to work closely in a team‑based environment with associates at all levels.
Knowledge of safety‑related issues and compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
Labor relations experience.
Education and Work History
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or a technical field (preferred). A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted.
10+ years of increasingly responsible manufacturing experience, at least 5 years in the food industry.
4+ years of direct supervisory experience.
Strong business acumen and working knowledge of process control and improvement tools.
Participative management style with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
