Job Overview As a BI Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision‑making. Your primary responsibility will involve developing and maintaining data visualizations, reports, and dashboards using Power BI. You will collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to identify business requirements, design BI solutions, and deliver impactful data‑driven solutions.
What is your day to day?
Collaborate with business users to identify, analyse, and document business requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports, dashboards, and visualisations using Power BI
Collect and transform data from multiple sources into a structured format for analysis.
Develop and maintain data models and data sets for efficient and accurate reporting.
Create calculations, measures, and custom visualisations in Power BI to support complex reporting needs.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency within the BI solutions.
Provide training and support to end‑users to optimise the use of Power BI for their reporting needs.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with data governance policies.
Stay up to date with the latest trends in business intelligence and analytics tools, techniques, and best practices.
Desired experience and technical skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field
Proven experience of at least 3 years as a BI Analyst or similar role
Strong proficiency in Power BI, including creating complex visualisations, measures, and DAX calculations
Strong proficiency in Power Query, including writing M‑code
Solid understanding of data visualisation principles and best practices
Knowledge of data modelling concepts (relational models, star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, referential integrity, etc.) and experience working with large data sets composed of unstructured/semi‑structured/structured data
Proficient in SQL and data manipulation languages
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
Preferred
Experience with data integration and ETL processes
Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate Desktop and Cloud Flows
Familiarity with cloud‑based data platforms, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, or Google BigQuery
Familiarity with data governance principles and practices
Familiarity with advanced Power BI features and concepts such as Field Parameters, Calculation Groups, Time Intelligence derivation, Row‑Level Security (RLS), and Workspace Application Audiences
Familiarity with advanced Power Query concepts such as sourcing data via Restful web APIs, performance tuning and optimisation of data refreshes, and creating common utility functions
